Where do they want to log?
BC Timber Sales provided us with mapping data for the boundaries of the properties they control on Bowen Island. We put those into Google Earth to get a picture of how they drape over the landscape. The result caused a large kerfuffle among islanders and islanders-at-heart.
We don’t know yet where within these areas they would log. They apparently want 8,000 cubic meters of high value timber per year over a twenty year cycle. We understand that might equate to 250 logging trucks per year. (We’ll be happy to update that if someone can show us the math.)
So if you can imagine what the place will begin to look like in year 10, year 15… well, you get the picture.
