Bowen is a lush, mountainous island covered in temperate canopy rainforest. It has several lakes in very good health. It is surrounded by Howe Sound, which after decades of neglect and a sick ecosystem has bounced back and now regularly features dolphins and whales again.
Here are views of areas that would begin to become pockmarked with clearcuts – with the possible exception of the photograph of the Pasly islands off the coast.
Please circulate photos to as many people off Bowen Island as you can. If they love the island and get on our list, they can join us overnight next time we face this again. The sign up is on our home page. Next time let’s try a two thousand people march.
